Many alternate forms of healing such as Reiki, Qi-Gong Therapy, Yoga, and Tai-chi now emerge into the modern day world. Could these seemingly illogical models for creating wellness really make a difference in people’s health, and well-being? Many doctors, nurses, and scientists are beginning to believe so. Certain hospitals around the globe, now offer energy medicine practices in conjunction with traditional treatments. Even well known heart surgeon and host of his own major television show, Dr. Mehmet Oz, constantly supports Energy Healing to his followers, patients, and fans.
Reiki, originating in Japan, and Qi-Gong Therapy, originating in China, each involve the healing practitioner sending ultra-violet heat through the hands to an area of physical pain or emotional discomfort within the client.
Tai-Chi, originating in China, and Yoga, originating in India, focus on specific exercise movements paired with breathing techniques to create flexibility and strength within the mind, body connection.
Each of these styles connects to the cellular level of the mind, body, emotional connection. At this cellular level science shows a number of protons, electrons, and neutrons working in synchrony as they circle around a nucleus that sits at the center of the cell. These components of the cell move in a dance as they communicate and spin to create vibrancy and health within the entire body. These protons, neutrons, electrons, and the nucleus are very small, leaving the majority of the cell filled with open space. When a trauma enters our life such as abuse, physical injury, or even small events that creates anxiety, the space within these cells seizes up and becomes stagnant.
Imagine watching a family of wild deer in the forest gently moving through the trees. They see a predator that wishes to hunt them. They stop, standing perfectly still. They appear calm on the outside, while inside their hearts pump while their breath becomes faster. The predator passes by without seeing them. Once they feel safe, they run full flight through the nearby field. This movement of running shakes off the fear while allowing their cellular tension to calm and return to a natural state of equilibrium.
As humans, we have these moments of anxiety daily. Some are larger traumas such as loss of a loved one, abuse, or breaking a bone. Some are smaller moments of fear where we avoid a car accident, or have a disagreement with a co-worker or friend. Each of these experiences, large or small, effect the space in the cell. Like the deer, our internal systems react to save ourselves. Unlike the deer, we rarely shake away these anxieties and fears. In some capacity, we stay in that space of heart racing shortened breath, and so the cells are unable to return to natural rhythm.
Over time the disruption to the cellular space then causes the protons, electrons, and neutrons to become out of balance. Since cells work together in clusters within the body and body chemistry, one off balance cell can cause a domino effect within the body that often leads to symptoms such as cold, flue, and other viruses. When left untreated on this deep cellular level, these illnesses often then transmute into diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and fibromyalgia. The blockages in these cellular spaces also often contribute to emotional disturbances such as anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress disorder, eating disorders, and other addictive behaviors.
Whether with the ultra-violet pulse of reiki and qi-gong, or the movements of yoga or tai-chi, energy healing creates an unwinding of the trauma held in the cells. This unwinding reopens the space within the cells and allows the protons, electrons, and neutrons to communicate and spin in harmony around the nucleus center once more. And as with any doctor, the most important component of energy healing is the safety, trust, and honesty between healer and client. When searching for any type of energy healing, be sure to ask as many questions as needed to feel comfortable with your healer of choice.
With a new age of medicine dawning, energy healing gently yet powerfully support doctors and nurses with their patients care, and also pairs beautifully with therapists to support the client’s release of old emotions and traumas. Energy Healing can also be utilized for self care and preventative action against disease. As doctor Oz says “the next big frontier in medicine is energy medicine.”
